Share a time when you or someone you know was the recipient of an inappropriate use of digital media or when you might have used digital media in an inappropriate manner. How did this make you or others feel? What might have been done differently?
As the manager of the Social Media sites (FB, Twitter, etc.) for my 4A high school, I feel I am often the person who has to sift through the comments that parents and community members make on school announcements & decisions. I am amazed at how many adults choose to use social media to air their grievances about the school district. While I believe that users have free speech on the internet, often times it is used inappropriately when cuss words are used or individual teachers are called out. There are proper ways to appropriately share your questions/concerns with the leaders in your schools, and I don't believe that social media is the place for that. (And, I'm amazed at how many parents believe that a FB message complaining about something will magically go to the superintendent - or whomever they are directing the message to. Social Media managers are a common job in today's world - and, in my case, have zero decision making power within the district!)
