Share a time when you or someone you know was the recipient of an inappropriate use of digital media or when you might have used digital media in an inappropriate manner. How did this make you or others feel? What might have been done differently?
Many of my friends' children have received sexually inappropriate Snap Chats throughout the last few years. I know of a few kids that have been bullied on Snap Chat also. We've had lengthy discussions about how this feels, both from sending the snaps to receiving them. I've watched kids' mental health slowly deteriorate due to bullying on social media. They feel attacked in a way we didn't experience as kids. Again, people think they can hide behind a keyboard.
We need to teach social media etiquette to our students and children. Bullying of any kind needs to be handled with stiff consequences.
