I have seen the anxiety from inappropriate use of digital media can cause on people. I have a young lady that is like a granddaughter to me. She is in high school and year and a half ago a classmate decided she did not like her. The classmate started posting mean and hurtful things on Facebook. Also she was threatening to beat her up. The young ladies mother contact police and the school. The police did not do much and the schools solution was to let her leave 15 minutes early ever day to avoid the classmate. The mother wanted her transferred to a different school but the school would not do that. The anxiety the young lady and loved ones went through was terrible. The young lady deleted all social media accounts and has stayed of of social media sites for over a year. After last school year they moved so she is in a different school now and things are going well. I do not know what might of been done differently, but I do know Digital Citizenship is important for everyone to be taught!
