Three years ago, I started using the social networking site, Edmodo, in my classroom. Although I had my students sign a contract for appropriate usage and I had discussed how to appropriately comment on others work, I still had one student who made an inappropriate comment and sent it to the whole class. I immediately placed the student on a read only status, but it was difficult for me to continue using the site that year. I felt like I was constantly monitoring student comments and I was quite overwhelmed. The next year I got better at using the site. We had more discussions after each log in about appropriate usage. We talked about what was working and shared what was easier for time management.
