Inappropriate Use Digital Media

I have been on the receiving end of inappropriate use of social media.  In another school district in which I was employed, a parent was posting comments about on me social media, making allegations of incidents that happened in the classroom.  These allegations were investigated and found to be false, however the parent was still upset and took to social media.  I was unaware of the social media comments until a coworker showed them to me.  This was a hurtful incident, but I was thankful she had enough courage to show me.  It is going to be difficult to teach students proper use of digital media when many of their parents, older siblings, and extended family members are not using digital media correctly.  However, that is not a reason to not teach it, but a barrier that we will need to work to overcome.
