The times that I've seen digital media used inappropriately are through shaming others on social media sites or through the use of pictures, music, or journals without permission. I've seen elementary students who have access to snapchat, instagram, or facebook using inappropriate pictures or videos they've taken to embarrass or ridicule or harm another individual. It made the recipients not desire to return to school or desire to get revenge. I think that the more this is talked about and addressed in and outside of school, the more it may diminish.
With using pictures, videos, journals, or articles inappropriately, we can do a better job as teachers in understanding the rules and regulations in posting different things so that we can instruct our students better in this process.
