Inappropriate Use Digital Media

Daniel Carver
One time I posted on Facebook a viewpoint that I had on a political issue. That, of course, sparked a string of comments from both sides of the spectrum. The back and forth between my friends got pretty heated and soon name calling started to happen, as well as passive aggressive comments. Then one friend started posting extremely inappropriate images in the comments section that I felt were derogatory and racist. I realized that while I was not partaking in any of this discussion, it was all happening on my post, which might be showing up on other people's feeds. I started going through and deleting comments that I thought were over the line and had to message people saying that they are free to comment on my posts but that the comments had to be appropriate with no name calling, swearing, etc. Some of my friends didn't like that, but I said that this was my post on my wall and that they could comment again but in a more civilized tone. From then on, I've been much more watchful of the comments that people make on my Facebook posts.
