Recently at our school, we had an end of term dance for 6th through 8th-grade students. There were many of the younger students who were experiencing their first dance and they were trying out their "moves". Some of the older students, who were "too cool" to dance sat in the stands and shot video's of the younger students dancing. Those students then sent them through snapchat and made rude comments about them. The chaperones caught on and made them delete the video's but we had to have a conversation about how anyone who had received the video could have saved it an sent it on. Students do not think big picture on how this can affect someone the rest of their lives. The younger kids found out they were videoed and were not happy, they felt bullied and violated and I don't blame them. The parents were called and the videos were erased, but the stigma and potential of more bullying in the future still hang on.
