I work in the financial industry and I am very aware that everything that I communicate or search is not only recorded by my company, but compliance regularly scrubs our emails for target words/content that we should not be saying or that are warnings for impending problems (complaint, lawsuit, etc). We have to explain our actions if an inappropriate email gets flagged (and possibly lose our job if violating company policy).
We also can't access certain sites when using our work's network. I know that my teens can't use the school's network for Snapchat. The amount of data that they were using while checking snapchat during school years was causing our data plan to go over (and I billed the monthly overage fee to the daughter running up the data, with threats that she would lose her phone privileges if she paid the fee two months in a row).
I don't understand why teachers even permit phones to be out during classroom time. It's too easy to send texts, cheat, distract.
