I use Class Dojo in my classroom, and sometimes parents will send emojis in their messages (blowing a kiss, hugs, etc.) I do not find these things appropriate in a professional/teacher/parents relationship - I believe if you wouldn't do/say the same in person, you shouldn't do/say it in a digital world. These parents obviously don't mean anything by using these emojis, they have just become a part of how they communicate digitally with others, but it's still strange to receive them - I never send any back. It's also a little strange that the platform itself has these emojis for use, since it's meant for teacher, parents, and students.
