Obviously social media platforms are rife with misuse by users, myself included in the past before I started really thinking about the image I wanted to put forth to the world. I have friends on Facebook who post pictures of themselves partying a little too much or in awkward, compromising positions that I would definitely not feel comfortable sharing myself. There have been a few students at our school who have taken inappropriate pictures of themselves using SnapChat that were screen-grabbed and used against them either immediately or later.
There are also inevitably coworkers who reply to an email, including those they don't mean to, with some hurtful or sassy comeback that they regret later. My rule of thumb is: if I mistakenly sent this to someone else, would I feel embarrassed or ashamed? If so, I rethink even sending it to its intended recipient(s).
