I heard about a professional who was upset about something that happened in the workplace, and sent a long email on the company's email system expressing her feelings to her coworker. The use of email in this situation was inappropriate for several reasons: 1) the coworker was available for the professional to talk to about the issue; 2) the topic and purpose of the email would have been better served by a face to face conversation; 3) as email is open for company authorities to monitor, the coworker's privacy and reputation were compromised. I thought that the professional made a poor choice in writing the lengthy email, and the coworker was upset by the situation. The professional later apologized, but the email remained in the system, and the coworker did not have any option to have it removed.
