Inappropriate Use of Digital Media

I have seen the effects of inappropriate use of digital media whether on Facebook, text message or email.  I am a high school teacher and a coach as well.  I've had students so upset that they were shedding tears and saying they were going to quit school or the team.  Funny thing is in none of these incidences when I had a conversation with the perpetrator(s) did any of them deny it was the wrong thing to do.  I believe the digital world gives individuals a way to act and behave in ways that they wouldn't otherwise in a face to face interaction.  Should there be education of our students on digital citizenship-absolutely.  Should there be staff training/parent education on digital citizenship-absolutely.
