One of my many personal encounters with inappropriate use of digital media would be when I was having dinner with a few friends and their kids. As we were eating, one of the older kids with a phone was eating while texting and Snap Chatting at the same time. He was constantly snapping pictures and responding to texts. He was in his own conversation and not engaged in the one in front of him. I was really bothered by this. We would even try and talk to him, it was like talking to a brick wall. We were all just turned off by his behavior. A few of my friends and I were discussing this after the kids had left, and realized that the mother of this child is always doing this as well. We then began questioning ourselves if we are using our technology at appropriate times to make sure we are teaching our kids the correct way to utilize it. I personally know that sometimes, I don't make the best choices when it comes to this. I need to learn more to just put my phone away, it can wait!
