It's so hard to pick one example. Just a couple of days ago I was chatting with another teacher about her incoming fall class and how wonderful they would be! She was a bit nervous about one of the kids, because the student's mother has a tendency to let out her frustrations with school on Facebook. When did it become more appropriate to rant on FB than to talk to a child's teacher?
I read a previous poster, here, who stated that you can't see the facial expressions in an email, text, tweet, status update, etc. That's so true. And with the instant connections, you don't get the "wait time" and "process time" that you might have previously gotten when you received a letter or a phone call and had to wait until an appropriate time of the morning to call back. Emotions are running too high and individuals speak without asking questions of understanding first.
One of the first thing I teach my middle schoolers is how to reply instead of reply all. I strongly dislike getting the reply alls with information I didn't really need to know.
