There was an unfortunate event, regarding digital media, that occurred in a school district approximately 40 miles from where I live. During homecoming week, several football players used a group text to talk very negatively about a student that was up for homecoming king. They disliked this student based upon his sexual affiliation. These texts leaked to different people and they faced some serious penalties. I'm sure these students were trying to be "cool" with each other, maybe joking, maybe not, but they quickly learned that what they text does not just disappear into space. They were now faced with being held accountable for their cyber-bullying. Regardless of what these particular thought, they made their thoughts very public even though they may not have intended to.
