As a cheerleading coach I had a girl quit in the middle of the season because her "anxiety was getting the best of her." I believed her, no questions asked. Thanked her for helping out, offered numerous things she could do to help; to try and keep her involved if she wished. She thought all those ideas were great, but never followed through. The other girls didn't want me to be taken advantage of, so they showed me her social media posts. Needless to say, her posts were very negative towards the school, cheerleading, football and the other cheerleaders. No mention of anxiety. I still don't know what the truth was. If not for social media, I never would have even questioned her intentions.
