Inappropriate Use of Digital Media

Share a time when you or someone you know was the recipient of an inappropriate use of digital media or when you might have used digital media in an inappropriate manner. How did this make you or others feel? What might have been done differently?

Unfortunately, in the digital society we live in, most people, adults and children included, don't communicate face to face as much anymore. It's easy to send a text, email, snap, instant message, etc. With that also comes the simplicity of not seeing the affect of what was sent or said. If not properly used students can be victims of cyber bullying. I have witnessed this as a classroom teacher, as a friend of parents with children who have access to these technologies and towards myself. It is important to monitor use of email, cell phone apps, etc. to make sure students are using them appropriately to exchange information rather than sending information or images that would potentially harm or hurt someone. It is important as an educator or follow the same guidelines that you teach students, also.
