I had an experience of someone posting inappropriate comments on my personal Facebook page. This was a woman I had friended because we are in a worldwide network of professionals. I am very careful about what I post online due to my very public profession. This woman's response to one of my posts about water conservation was dramatic and inappropriate. I deleted the post and privately messaged her but the damage was done. I felt attacked and violated by someone who had reacted strongly without understanding that the laws in our state are completely different from where she lives. It was a real wake up call and a reminder not to assume that people can be trusted to make appropriate and respectful responses even as adults. Needless to say I chose to block her after the experience.
