Inappropriate Use of digital media - Tammy Mackowski

When digital media became available I saw the abuse by students who would use the tools to harass and bully others.  I saw one student who's life was threatened by peers.  The school Principal was notified and they immediately addressed the situation with the students, parents and police.  I believe the parents had not idea this was happening and all parties had no idea of the repercussions and emotional stress this caused.

Had there been a curriculum in place to educate student and parents, the frequency of this behavior would have been curbed.  And since that time, with education, this has reduced the number of harassment situations.  It has not eliminated the behavior, but talking with parents and students has made a difference.
