The past three years, I taught 6th grade which is in the middle school. Kids this age, consistently use social media inappropriately. I had one girl that was constantly being told to commit suicide on social media, especially from other kids who were anonymous. This made her super depressed, scared and she was at a point where she was considering it. It also made me feel pretty helpless. I encouraged her personally and we discussed in depth about her worth and talked about the effects of suicide. I also strongly encouraged her to delete that social media, but she still wanted to be able to contact her friends and really couldn't see the benefit of just taking a break. We got law enforcement involved. It finally did get resolved, but it took a lot of time to get it figured out. You people hide behind their screens way to much and say things they never would to that person face and that learning is something that should have been done differently.
