I have a friend who unfortunately had his Facebook profile copied and impersonated. A new page was created using their name, personal info, friends contacts and family pictures.
It's a very unsafe feeling knowing there is a stranger interacting with your friends and relatives, posting as you. It made us angry that someone would choose to invade his privacy like that.
It happens often on Facebook, unfortunately. It took a lot of back and forth communication with Facebook customer service and the help of online friends (relentlessly tagging the new profile as fake) to get it removed.
In retrospect, my friend most likely initiated the problem when he accepted a friend request message. Not clicking on strange messages, emails or links is a good practice to start in order to prevent what happened.
