I have seen various examples of inappropriate use of digital media from both students and adults. Social media is so easy to get "pulled in" to an argument that really should not be out on the Internet for the world to see. As educators we need to make some difficult decisions about when to respond and when to simple say nothing. I remember a time when students were complaining about school lunches and a parent decided to pull this into Facebook. And like wildfire, others began to jump on board with lots of harsh words before addressing the problem to the correct channel of communication. It is one thing to verbally visit with another about something, but when you start it on social media you are not only talking to one person you are literally opening it up to hundreds maybe even thousands of people. Some people who don't even know all the facts.
