Many posts have covered all of the inappropriate uses I have observed with children from naked snapchats, to bullying on facebook, to plagiarism, to inappropriate use of emails.
In addition to these, I had an issue that might be more etiquette than inappropriate use, but I think it is worth sharing. One time I was out to dinner with a group of friends. As we were eating I was getting text messages from one of my kids who was picking something up for me and having difficulties, as well as from co-workers who needed me to help solve a work issue. I participated in the dinner conversation while answering the messages. After dinner, my friends were upset because of the messages. They did not think it was ok to text while we were together. I was surprised at their anger. In other friend groups, texting while we were together was not a big deal. This issue taught me to be more sensitive to who you are with and expectations for appropriate use of technology in certain social situations.
