A few years ago I taught at a district where "sexting" was out of control. Students did not understand the ramifications of how this could impact their lives in the long-term as well as this being a criminal action. Our district brought in a representative from law enforcement to speak with the students (secondary) and their parents. It was explained why this was illegal and the consequences. Many parents and student did not understand that there is software that can pull any picture taken on a phone (even deleted) and date/time stamp them. This was an eye opener for students, parents, staff, and the community. It did not eliminate the problem but it was reduced greatly.
