As a high school teacher for many years I have seen several terrible hurtful uses of digital media. The one that leaps to mind is the concerns a senior girl, the high achieving, daughter of a school leader. I watched her, at a sporting event, take a photo of an innocent conversation between a high school girl and boy seated next to each other. She sent this photo with a false caption to the boy's girlfriend, about her "cheating" boyfriend.
I remember her laughing at this situation with her friends, wondering out loud if this would "break them up." It has bothered me since.
This was just mean-spirited game playing on her part, and was totally irresponsible. It had to cause friction between boyfriend and girlfriend, and make the other girl feel the fool, if the truth was ever revealed.
