Inappropriate use of Digital Media

I actually just heard of a local teacher posting something wildly inappropriate on social media and getting in serious trouble for it. It's not the first time I've heard of such incidents. The things we say and do online are often able to be found even after we delete them. I worry about our youth not understanding the seriousness of this reality when I see them posting or accessing inappropriate things online, even "as a joke"-- it can follow them around through the rest of their life, impacting their jobs, their relationships, and their overall reputation. I try to explain this to my students when I see them being irresponsible with technology. Excessive use is also a big concern to me. Students miss out on important life skills when their whole day is spent in front of a screen.
