There was a former student who was arrested for committing a few crimes. This student was well known by the staff because they were often in the office for causing problems. The individual's mugshot was sent around in an all staff email with comments being. By the time I sat at my desk, the chain of emails was close to 10 and they were all reply-all emails.
Luckily, by the time I saw them, a teacher sent a reply-all that said something to the effect of...This is someone's son, this could have been your son/cousin/nephew/brother...do you want people saying the things that are going around?
It was a great response, but what was even better was the professional learning that come from that unfortunate situation.
