Inappropriate use of digital Media

As many teachers are wanting to reach out to their students many of them are "friending" them on social media.  I knew of a educator that did this and the students found out information on them and then used it to tease them and talk about it with the rest of the class.  This caused the educator a lot of embarrassment and time spent with administrators and parents.  We need to be a friend to our students but also keep our personal life a bit more of a personal situation.
