I realize this idea may have various opinions from others. Something I learned years ago is to keep traveling information off of social media until coming back home. One time I told my parents that I was going to post a picture of our family traveling in Florida and saying we were going to be gone for a week. I had no idea how upset my mom was about to be. My idea behind it was to show the fun time we were having to our other family members and friends back at home. She was not happy because if anyone is creeping around the internet, they would find out we are not at home and be able to possibly figure out our home address and try to break into our home. She's not wrong. This is something that predators can easily do. This was also before many many people had security cameras around their homes. She didn't mind if I sent pictures to my grandma or my close friends at home through text messages. What she didn't like was the idea of me posting to social media because then a LOT of people would know we were gone and a friend of a friend of a friend could find out and take advantage in an unkind way. In the end, I don't think I posted. If I did, I deleted the post and prayed nothing bad was going to happen. Since then, I share traveling posts after I am back home.
