Inappropriate use of digital media.

A friend of mine enjoys having discussions over controversial topics on Facebook.  He will post a thought producing article and invite others to comment.  I occasionally comment as I enjoy reading the articles and engaging in productive conversation. Unfortunately there are many people in our mutual friend groups who become enraged about the content and begin commenting in extremely offensive ways.  In a discussion over the transgender bathroom issue one individual replied to my comment saying, "You must enjoy the idea of my daughter being raped, since you would allow men into a women's bathroom."  Since that time I still read the articles but rarely comment on them.  It's sad some people have lost the ability for reasoned conversation of an issue, and use social media as a place to chastise others who don't agree with their views.
