I have had several instances where digital media was used inappropriately at school and at the middle school age outside of school. One instance was a student being solicited by an older student through Snapchat. The age of 13 for students to sign up for social media sites is almost too young for many. So many kids get themselves into situations that are above and beyond what they can handle mentally and emotionally. The solicitation incident one was brought to the attention of authorities once the student's parents were involved. It was embarrassing for the student and a wake up call for the family. I think monitoring of student's phones is a step in the right direction but not the only thing to do.
