Professionally, as a clinical professor at Utah State University (USU), I teach a wide range of classes including STEM classes, sociology of food classes, and technical writing. I follow usu_gradschool because I work with graduate students earning their master's or PhD at USU. By following them on Instagram, I am able to see all the celebration photos from graduation today. Both as an educator and a mom, I follow the laboratory school (edithbowenlaboratoryschool) that is on the USU campus because my background is in education and my son will be starting full-day kindergarten there in the fall. By falling the school I can see what is going on and the dynamic things that teachers are doing. I am also able to borrow ideas from the K-6 classroom and adapt them to easy hands-on activities in the college classroom.
On a more personal level, I follow author Jenny Lawson (thebloggess) because she works hard to end the stigma surrounding mental health. Not only have I learned from her in my personal life, but I can also apply the information I learn from Lawson with my USU students because mental health issues are HUGE in higher education.
