Internet Safety - Privacy Settings

I do not use social media, but I have a Twitter account because it was required for another class.  I don't use it - don't even know how.  After a bit of looking I found the privacy settings - perhaps they should be easier to locate.  I discovered as I read through the settings that I didn't know what option was the one that would keep me safest.  I will have to educate myself about settings before I can try to help anyone else!
