I keep my privacy settings on social media pretty well locked down. As an international educator I use social media as a way to keep in touch with friends and family. I also use it to network to find future jobs around the world, so I am very careful about what I post. A few weekends ago, though, my 4 year old helped my discover some privacy settings I didn't even realize I needed to be aware of. I was snapping some photos of her with my new iPhone 8. She wanted to see herself, reached out for the screen, and somehow made a map of our location appear! Upon further research, I realized that if you held down the photo and swiped up you could get a map to our exact location in Beirut. Needless to say, that's not exactly how we meant to create family memories. Turns out, if you go to settings, tap privacy, tap location services, tap camera, and then tap never, the geotagging is disabled. My husband and I don't share many photos of our kids on social media to begin with, but now, if you want to find us, you'll have to ask to come for a visit.
