Internet Safety

Kathleen Plathe
I explore my Snapchat account since this the social media most used by my children and students.  One thing that I noticed is the fact that you can limit who sees your "stories".  Even as a parent you think you have your child as a friend they can easily block you from certain post.  They can also do this as a way of bullying.  I also say that on Snap maps you can limit who is able to see you.  On my account I have my children, siblings, and spouse as the only ones that can see where I am at.  I also have certain groups that I send snaps to to include a specific group of friend or family.  I also know that if you screenshot the person gets notifications.  It is easy to use a different device to take a picture of your screen if needed.  As an adult I have a very tight circle of friends I allow on my Snapchat but children think more the merrier.
