I explored, and will continue to explore, my Facebook account and its settings. One thing I have done to protect myself is that I chose the option that I need to review all posts or photos before they can be displayed on my timeline. I also will not post my cell number via this account. Like all social media -it is never truly private but I can do my best to keep myself educated.
