Internet Safety

Jane Ann Becicka
I examined Facebook.  Users should be aware that they may choose who they wish to friend, but that if someone looks at one of your friend’s site, they will be able to see who that person’s friends are, including you.  Just because you set privacy settings doesn’t mean that no one else can see that you have an account, can see your profile picture and other information about you.  Additionally, the platform is able to collect information about you-all that you post, regardless of privacy settings.   We have to wonder, what is done with that information. Of concern is the use of facial recognition software and what is revealed even when we select privacy settings.
