I try to keep a low profile on my personal use of social media. I use my maiden name for my personal facebook and it is nice to connect with old friends and my family. I only go to facebook occasionally and specifically. My personal social media has tight privacy settings and it is limited. However, I also have a professional life online. A school facebook account that is very separate from my personal life and specific to scholarships in conjunction with the school counselors. I also participate professionally with a twitter account. Twitter can be a powerful tool for professional development and it is a necessary part of in our professional worldwide communication. I use SKYPE regularly for bringing experts to the classroom. I work with high school students and all communication is electronic, currently "groupme" is used to connect with over 100 students in one of the student clubs.
