Internet Safety

Mary B.
Call me old fashioned, but I don't trust the social media of Facebook, Twitter, and others.  I am a private person and don't care to have my information out for all the world to see.  When I want to visit with someone or need to send a message, I send an email directly to the person.  I know someone could click "forward" and send my message to others, but there's a better chance my information or chat will not be smeared all over the social media.   I am aware of the private settings, but don't trust the settings.
School Administrators discourage school employees from using social media and I've heard that they check throughout the year for inappropriate items on Facebook and other sites.  If something inappropriate was found, the employee would be reprimanded or terminated.   I just feel safer in this world not being on Facebook and the other social media sites.

I agree about most of your most, I keep my private life private.  I am not a fan of social media for the same reasons you listed. But I do explore the different social media pieces so that I keep up with what kids are doing.

I even have a false account I use when investigating gang issues in our district and bullying issues.
