I had my Facebook account taken over by a hack that was going around. Within minutes it had changed my email and password even with the privacy settings set. Some people never got their accounts back. I was able to get back on mine after about 3 months. I went through all the settings available to lock it down as much as possible so that wouldnt happen again with as much as I could protect myself from it. I do like that the settings, especially on Facebook, are very specific and very personalized. You can see if anyone has tried to log into your account, where they were and so on. I check every month or so to keep an eye on things.
