I use Facebook and Twitter like most. I make sure to have my settings at the most secure possible. On Facebook, I only allow Friends to see information and on Twitter I have a protected account. I think both sites can be used as a great way to gather information, not only about friends and family, but also news around the world that some people(like students) wouldn't see if they weren't on these social networking sites.
