Internet Safety

Michelle Richardson
The main social network site I use is Facebook, so I checked my privacy settings on that site. Most of the settings were set at private and what I wanted. Some settings I was surprised at. For instance, my phone number and email were listed for everyone to look me up that way. I immediately changed both of those to friends only. I don't know if those were added in an update or how they were set to everyone. I would not have personally set that for everyone. Another section I was unaware even existed was about outside search engines. I had that section marked that outside search engines could link to my profile. Again, I changed that because it sounds like any of my data or info could be sent all over the web. Very scary to me! The privacy settings on all social networks sites should be reviewed with students. They need to know what they are revealing to the public and make sure their settings are private.
