I had a Facebook account where I would post funny stories about my family or life and also pictures. As time went on, I had many parents of students ask to be my Facebook friend. My district does not have a policy about this and many teachers were accepting parents. I felt terrible not accepting people who felt like they really knew me. I decided to accept parents as friends after the children were out of my class. That became a problem because there were families that I became friends with but others I was not close to who were on my friend list. Suddenly, my Facebook account was full of people that I wasn't friends with in real life. I decided to deactivate my account because I wasn't comfortable anymore. A helpful setting to make your page more private is to filter who can see your posts. I thought about doing that but didn't want to go through the hassle.
