I have a twitter account that I use a lot to post info and updates for our athletic department. I am very careful about what I post. When I get friend requests from obvious accounts I have no connection to I block them. Twitter has a very easy to use privacy and safety section under your profile that will let you control all aspects of your account. Make sure tweets and followers are set how you want them to be. There is a lot here to help you control your account and who can see it, use it to keep it safe and a good tool to use.
