Jaw Pain & Posture Connection – Causes, Symptoms & Relief

myoedge
Jaw pain is often linked to poor posture, especially forward head posture and slouching, which place extra strain on the muscles that control the jaw and neck. The jaw joint, known as the Temporomandibular Joint Disorder, works closely with surrounding neck and shoulder muscles, so misalignment in posture can easily affect jaw function. When the head leans forward—common during phone or computer use—it increases pressure on the jaw muscles, leading to tightness, clenching, headaches, and clicking sounds. Over time, this imbalance can make chewing or speaking uncomfortable and worsen muscle fatigue. Improving posture, strengthening neck muscles, and reducing screen strain can significantly relieve jaw pain and prevent symptoms from returning.
