So we've finally agreed on a car after weeks of back and forth, a 2019 Mazda CX-5 that ticks all the boxes for our family. The seller is a really nice guy, he's sent us all the service records, the car is still under warranty until next year, and he's even agreed to take it to a garage of our choice for a final look before we transfer the money. My wife thinks we should just go ahead and finish the deal because everything seems perfect and she's worried we'll lose the car if we keep dragging our feet. I get where she's coming from but I've been reading too many stories on here about things that looked perfect on the surface but had hidden issues that only came out later. I'm not trying to be difficult, I just want to know exactly what we're getting into before we commit to something that's going to be our main family car for the next few years. I've found a service that does a pretty comprehensive check and I think it's worth the extra couple of days to have that peace of mind. I told her we can do the
Pre Purchase Car Inspection and if it comes back clean we'll sign the paperwork the same day, but if there's something major we need to know that before we hand over the cash, not six months from now when the warranty has expired. Anyone else had to convince a partner that being thorough isn't the same as being paranoid? I feel like I'm the bad guy here for wanting to be careful.
