I believe in the freedom of speech. However, I also believe that people posting information should do so responsibly. While I understand it's nearly impossible to fact check everything, individuals need to make sure what they're posting is legitimate. This is different than posting something not everyone agrees with. A simple example would be posting that a celebrity has died with no context or information to back it up.
On the opposite side, it's also the reader's responsibility to make sure they're not believing something simply because it's online. As educators, we have a huge responsibility to teach this to our students. We need to make sure students are understanding how to take information and research the facts presented to either form an opinion or determine if something is true.
