As educators, we need to begin our Internet safety around a discussion on rights and responsibilities. Students need to answer the questions, "What should be our behavior expectations both in the classroom and online?" "Why is it important to set these expectations?" "How are online communities different than our classroom community?"
Students need to understand that having expectation guidelines helps to create and maintain a safe society.
They are responsible for how and what they share and with whom. They need practise to learn how to participate online in a respectful and responsible manner.
