In working with high school students as well as visiting with my own children, who are also high school aged, I have come to realize that young people seem to think that anything they can find on their phone/computer/etc., is free to use and share as they please. They also don't always seem to understand that the information, although sounding factual, may in fact be fiction. Because of these things, is it incredibly important, in my opinion, that we work hard at helping young people understand how to check for accuracy of the information they read/watch, and teach them the responsibilities of users of technology, whether it be for personal or professional reasons. Digital citizenship is imperative!
